With the renovation of the Waco Regional Airport there have been few open calls for public art. The one located in the passengers departing lounge was looking for a shallow relief artwork depicting a mammoth due to the proximity of the largest known Columbian mammoth site. The adult mammoth and the calf are made in their actual size, woven in bobbin lace technique by hand. Positioning the ropes slightly off the face of the wall creates an additional 3d effect with the shadows.
